News: White Vinegar Tastes Bad.
April 30, 2009
I mixed 1/2 a cup of white vinegar with 1/2 a cup of water and made my way into the shower, only to realize that I’d put this mixture in a cup instead of some other easy-to-use bottle. So after much deliberation over how I would get this on my hair without dumping it in my eyes, I ended up just pouring the whole thing over my head, and to no one’s surprise this got in my eyes and every other orifice from my neck up.
I was trying to adjust the shower head to rinse the vinegar out of my mouth and off my face, and the shower head BREAKS OFF, sending a stream of water at my face at fire hydrant-like speed. Naturally, I flew into a panic and bolted across the house to our other bathroom where I discovered a very handy little truth about washing your hair with vinegar!
It works! It made my hair really soft, but this particular vinegar treatment is for people who have dry scalp or dandruff, and it’s made to be used before a shampoo, or “no-poo” as it’s so aptly called. My “no-poo” was 2 tsp. of baking soda to 1 cup of very warm water, and it definitely dried my hair more than I’d hoped. I’m gonna try the same thing again, only with less baking soda and see how that works.
Also! The vinegar smell will wash out without a problem, just make sure you rinse thoroughly! Supposedly there’s also a homemade conditioner you can make with apple cider vinegar and something else that will soften after the baking soda, so I’ll probably try that one too.
Now onto that choreography I’ve been procrastinating all week!
Ciao,
Me
P.S. I made a new yoga shirt! :]
